Teachers 2012-2013
Maddie Sparber
I am 17 years old and live in San Diego, California. I am an avid participant in Model United Nations and have been studying Mandarin for the past four years. My ever-growing interest in international affairs and learning about different cultures motivated me to join Lingo Online. When I first joined the group, I didn't realize how much fun I would have teaching our Korean students. I also find that I learn just as much as I teach in my lessons because my students love to describe Korean culture and even some of it's history. In the future, I hope to teach more students from diverse cultures and begin filming lessons for our new website.

Tess C.
My name is Tess, and I am 14 years old. I joined lingo online to help students understand English better, as well as learn teaching skills. I also enjoy learning about other cultures, so this seemed like a great opportunity. I like teaching because it is very satisfying to know that you helped someone learn new information. It is also a great learning experience, where I can gain knowledge of my student’s culture. My goal is to teach as much as I can, and get better at it as I go. Eventually, I want to be able to create very high quality lessons.

Ethan Kuo
My name is Ethan Kuo and I am a ninth grader at Pacific Ridge School. I am an avid piano student and basketball player. This is my first year in Lingo Online. I joined because I enjoy teaching people and learning about the culture of other places. I like Lingo Online because it allows me to both teach and learn but also help people in their quest for knowledge of English. This is a very unique group that reaches out to people halfway across the world, and not just teach them but make friends and connect with them.
